The great Michael Hamburger (best known for his translations of Friedrich Hölderlin, Paul Celan, Gottfried Benn and W. G. Sebald) died yesterday, probably due to a heart attack. As soon as I know more, I'll add to this -- wikipedia has more details about the poet, but no details as yet about his death.

That is a really sad piece of news to get on a Friday.
Hamburger had an obituary in The Daily Telegraph yesterday, read it online. A sad loss of a literary giant.
Hamburger also had an obituary in The Guardian, The Times and The Independent. He was an eminent translator and an accomplished poet, well worth exploring further.
