I'm hearing good things about the fabulously-named Temple Grandin and her book Animals in Translation (Bloomsbury.). Horizon have made a TV documentary about her which is due to air in the UK on BBC2 on Thursday night at 9pm. It's called The Woman Who Thinks Like a Cow.

  1. I've read Animals in Translation and thought it was excellent. I learned a lot. The book is a bit like reading a textbook sometimes though but the subject matter is always fascinating. I recommend it. I think the TV documentary will be worth watching too. She's an amazing woman. Her autism hasn't hindered her success - in fact it may be the reason she is so successful with her work. She seems to know how animals think and can see the world the way they do. It's uncanny.
