  1. I've always seen that quote as this:

    "The great are only great because we are on our knees. Let us rise!"

    Which reads far better and is usually attributed to the early French anarchist, Proudhon. He's the thinker who also wrote "All property is theft".

    I like that version also... either way, important calls to get off our knees and stand up for our rights.
