Sandra is reading Peter Rushforth's Pinkerton's Sister. Ian Sansom's review in the Guardian was glowing, "Rushforth has taken his time and produced a book almost entirely lacking in the usual qualities of the contemporary English novel." The Independent called it a "sprawling tour de force." Sadly, and unexpectedly, Peter died last Sunday.
