The Book Depository

ReadySteadyBook is proud to be working in association with The Book Depository.

In January, I became the Managing Editor of The Book Depository website. ReadySteadyBook used to derive a tiny sum of revenue by linking to Amazon.co.uk as part of its Associates Program. There are still many links back to Amazon.co.uk on our site, and they will no doubt continue to generate minibucks, but since the beginning of the year RSB has been linking to my new employers. In case it needs emphasising, neither linking to Amazon.co.uk nor The Book Depository affects, in any way whatsoever, the editorial decisions we make here on ReadySteadyBook.

Oh, and I have a blog over at The Book Depository called Editor's Corner. Go see!

Alan Gilliland (Curd the Lion) says...

tope

1. To drink (liquor) habitually and copiously. 2. A small shark with a long snout (Galeorhinus galeus). 3. A usually dome-shaped monument built by Buddhists. Also known as a stupa

…and a stupa is what you get into when you tope.

Serendipoetry

Appointment

He fingers the ends with the care of a vet
handling a new-fledged baby bird.
'How would you like it cut?' he asks.
'Well.' I reply. 'I have a wedding to stop.'

I know I won't go. Just impediments
are for the movies. But I let him snip
through the blade of afternoon light,
layering out the splits, the kinks, the fluff
as thoughtfully as though I had the guts
to shout your name and race you to the bus.
